Privacy Policy
This policy explains how LingoLesson collects and uses information when teachers, students, schools, and institutions use the service.
Last updated: August 3, 2026
1. Overview
LingoLesson is a learning platform for creating language lessons, assigning them to classes, collecting student submissions, providing feedback, and optionally using AI Add Ons. We collect information needed to provide those classroom workflows, protect accounts, process payments, support users, and improve reliability.
2. Information we collect
Account and profile information
We collect information used to create and manage accounts, such as name, email address, role, region, and supported third-party account identifiers.
Classroom information
Teachers and institutions may create classes, courses, lessons, rosters, join codes, share links, direct lesson links, availability settings, lesson content, rubrics, and class options. Students may be associated with classes, lessons, submissions, scores, comments, and reactions.
Lesson, media, submission, and feedback content
LingoLesson stores content that users create, upload, or submit, including text, images, audio, video, PDFs, embedded media references, recordings, transcripts, OCR text, answers, scores, feedback, captions, and related metadata.
AI Add Ons and usage information
When AI features are used, we may process prompts, lesson instructions, selected media, student answers, rubrics, transcripts, OCR source images, generated outputs, usage balances, purchase history, and usage events.
Billing, plan, and institution enquiry information
For paid plans or AI usage packages, we collect plan choices, seat counts, billing cycle, payment customer or subscription identifiers, payment-intent identifiers, receipt metadata, purchase amounts, currency, and package type. Institution enquiries may include institution name, institution type, contact name, contact email, role, requested account counts, and custom-branding preferences.
Device, security, and diagnostic information
We collect technical information for authentication, security, auditing, support, and reliability, such as activity logs, login events, logout events, device type, browser name, operating system, URL, status code, error details, timestamps, and similar diagnostics.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, and manage user accounts;
- provide lessons, classes, submissions, feedback, galleries, and downloads;
- store and deliver media through service providers;
- generate transcripts, speech, images, OCR text, lesson drafts, and AI feedback when requested;
- track AI balances, purchases, subscriptions, student-seat limits, and invoices;
- send service messages and institution enquiry emails;
- detect errors, prevent abuse, secure accounts, and maintain the service;
- respond to support requests and legal obligations; and
- analyze feature usage and improve product reliability.
4. AI processing
AI Add Ons are optional. When a teacher or student uses an AI-enabled feature, relevant content may be sent to AI or media-processing providers to complete the requested task. This may include text prompts, lesson content, uploaded media, audio or video recordings, transcripts, OCR source images, student answers, and scoring rubrics.
Teachers remain responsible for deciding whether AI features are appropriate for their learners and for reviewing AI output before using it for instruction, feedback, or assessment.
5. How we share information
We share information only as needed to provide, secure, support, and operate LingoLesson, or when required by law. Recipients may include:
- infrastructure, hosting, storage, and delivery providers;
- authentication providers;
- payment processors;
- AI, speech, transcription, OCR, and media-processing providers used for requested features;
- email, notification, security, and support providers;
- teachers, enrolled students, and classmates according to class settings, gallery settings, and permission-gated links;
- administrators or support personnel who need access to operate or support the service; and
- law enforcement, regulators, courts, or others when legally required or needed to protect rights and safety.
We do not sell student or teacher personal information, or use student work or teacher materials for targeted advertising.
6. Classroom visibility and shared links
Teachers control many classroom visibility settings. They may assign lessons, review submissions, create media galleries, enable comments and reactions, download classroom data, share lesson links, or publish direct lesson links. Links are permission-gated so that only the class teacher and students enrolled in the relevant class can open the related content. Users should still treat links as sensitive and share them only with intended class members.
7. Cookies and local storage
LingoLesson uses browser storage and similar technologies to support sign-in, app behavior, feature preferences, debugging settings, and security. Third-party providers may also use cookies or similar technologies when they provide authentication, payment, security, or embedded services.
8. Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide LingoLesson, maintain classroom records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, process billing, and protect the service. Teachers and administrators may delete certain lessons, submissions, media, feedback, galleries, classes, or logs through the product. Some backups, logs, billing records, and deletion queues may persist for a limited period after deletion.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including access controls, permission-based product behavior, operational safeguards, monitoring, and deletion processes. No method of online transmission or storage is completely secure.
10. International storage and transfers
LingoLesson is a web service and may process information in countries where we or our service providers operate. Teacher region settings may be used for certain media and lesson assets, but processing by providers that support authentication, payments, AI features, security, email, support, or infrastructure may involve other locations.
11. Students, children, and schools
LingoLesson is intended for educational use under the direction of teachers, schools, institutions, parents, or guardians as appropriate. Teachers and institutions are responsible for obtaining any required consents before inviting students, especially minors, to use LingoLesson or submit audio, video, images, writing, or other personal information.
12. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, export, or object to certain processing of your personal information. Students should usually contact their teacher or institution first for classroom records. Teachers and institutions may contact us for account-level requests.
To make a privacy request, use the LingoLesson contact form. We may need to verify your identity and account relationship before acting on a request.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as LingoLesson changes. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating this page, providing in-product notice, or contacting account owners.
14. Contact
Questions or requests about privacy can be sent through the LingoLesson contact form.
