How do I import lesson items from a CSV template?

← All help documentation

Import Items

  1. Open a lesson in the lesson editor.
  2. Open the add item dialog.
  3. Choose the Import tab.
  4. Select whether you are importing media items or question items.
  5. Choose the item format. For text-to-speech media, choose the language and voice options shown in the dialog.
  6. Select Download CSV Template.
  7. Fill the template rows without changing the column names.
  8. Upload the completed CSV file, review the imported items, and save the lesson.

Supported Import Types

  • Media imports support text-to-speech monologue and text-to-speech dialogue formats.
  • Question imports support categorize, matching, multiple choice, ordering, select many, and true/false formats.
  • Each import can include up to 50 rows.

Troubleshooting

  • If the upload fails, confirm the CSV still has the exact template headers.
  • If only some rows import, check for blank required fields or unsupported values in the affected rows.
  • If your file has more than 50 rows, split it into smaller CSV imports. For smaller one-off additions, consider AI-generated lesson items instead.
