How do I import the legacy ZenGengo Lesson Library into LingoLesson?

← All tutorials and guides

What is included?

The library covers everyday communication, culture, science, nature, technology and current issues. Depending on the lesson, activities include reading and listening, vocabulary, comprehension questions, Gap Fill, Ordering, speaking and writing. Activity mixes vary by lesson.

Courses retain their original CEFR levels, from A1 to C2. Each course contains at most 25 lessons. These lessons have been adapted to LingoLesson’s activity types; some activities and scoring work differently from ZenGengo. Preview a lesson before using it with students.

Browse the courses and all lesson titles below.

How to import a ZenGengo library course

You will need a LingoLesson teacher account and the Import Code and four-digit PIN for your chosen course. Each course’s code and PIN are shown in the course list below. You do not need to request access or have a ZenGengo account.

  1. Choose a course from the list below and use the import code and PIN shown in the same row. Expand the course name if you want to check its lesson titles first.
  2. Sign in to app.lingolesson.com with the teacher account that should own the copy.
  3. In the sidebar, select New Course. In the Add Course dialog, choose the Import course tab.
  4. Enter the course’s Import Code and PIN. Keep all four PIN digits, including any zero at the beginning.
  5. Select Import. Keep the page open while LingoLesson copies the lessons and their media. The progress dialog shows the lesson being copied.
  6. When the imported course opens, compare its lesson count and titles with the course list below. Open lessons to preview the activities and play their audio or video.
  7. Repeat these steps for each additional course you want. Each import copies a whole course; you do not need to import the entire library.

Use your imported course with a class

  1. Open the class that should use the lessons and find the imported course in its available courses list.
  2. Select Assign beside the course, then Assign again in the Confirm assignment dialog.
  3. Review the class’s course and lesson visibility. Existing lessons start visible when the course is assigned. Hide individual lessons you do not want that class to use yet.

You can edit, rename or reorder lessons in your copy. Your changes do not affect the library originals or other teachers’ copies. Later changes to the originals do not update your copy. Importing does not bring across ZenGengo classes, students, submissions, grades or feedback.

Courses and lesson titles

Choose a course by CEFR level and part number. Its import code and PIN are shown alongside it; expand the course name to see all lesson titles in import order. Use both values from the same row.

In your account, imported course names currently begin with “LingoLesson Library”; match them to this list by CEFR level and part number.

If something does not look right

  • Code or PIN rejected? Check that both values belong to the same course, including all four PIN digits. Use LingoLesson course codes, rather than old ZenGengo lesson codes. Contact us if the current pair still fails.
  • Import interrupted or lessons missing? Check the course already created in your account before trying again. Importing the same course again creates another independent copy. If the count differs from the list above, contact us with the course name and error message.
  • Students cannot open lessons? Check that the course is assigned to the correct class, the course and lessons are visible, and any availability dates allow access.
  • Looking for your own ZenGengo materials? This guide covers the ready-made library. Use the ZenGengo migration guide to transfer your own course content.
