Welcome to LingoLesson! This guide takes you from a teacher account to a first lesson your students can use. Start with one class, one course, and one simple activity. You can build on them as you go.
Before you start
Sign in to LingoLesson with your teacher account. If you have not created one yet, follow the teacher registration guide. You can use Google or Microsoft sign-in.
Check the supported devices and browsers guide if you need help choosing a device. For speaking activities, you and your students may also need to allow microphone access.
The Get started with LingoLesson widget in the app tracks the five steps below. Select the next unfinished step to open the right area. If you have already started, carry on from where you left off.
1. Create a class
- In the teacher sidebar, select New Class.
- Enter a Class Name your students will recognize, such as “Spanish Group A.”
- Select Create.
Your class is ready. It can stay empty while you prepare the first lesson; you will invite students in step 5.
2. Create a course
- In the teacher sidebar, select New Course.
- Enter a Course Name, such as “Everyday Spanish.”
- Select Create. LingoLesson opens your new course.
A course can contain one lesson or many. You can also assign the same course to more than one class.
3. Create your first lesson
- Open your course.
- Select the new lesson link in the empty lesson area, or New Lesson if the course already has lessons.
- Enter a Lesson Name, such as “Introducing yourself,” and select Save.
- Open the lesson from the course table. In the lesson editor, select the + button to add a question or media content.
- Add instructions and a simple activity. For example, ask students to introduce themselves in the language they are learning.
- Finish and save your edits. When the editor shows Lesson saved, select Preview to check the lesson before sharing it.
You can write your own content. If helpful, you can also use optional AI tools or import lesson items from a CSV template.
4. Assign the course to your class
- Open the class you created in step 1 and select Assigned Courses.
- Find your course among the available courses and select Assign.
- In the Confirm assignment dialog, select Assign again.
- Check that the course and your first lesson are visible for this class.
Lessons already in the course are turned on when you assign it. If you add more lessons later, check their visibility in this class before asking students to use them.
If students cannot find a lesson, check both the course and lesson visibility, plus any availability dates. See course and lesson visibility and lesson availability dates.
5. Invite your students
- Open your class and select Students.
- Select Add Students.
- Under Class Join Link, select Copy and share the link with your students. You can also use the displayed QR code or join code and PIN.
- Ask students to open the link and sign in or register as students. Share the student registration and joining a class guides if they need help.
- Check the class student list to confirm that they have joined.
The final setup step is complete once your first student has joined or been added to the class. Copying the invitation link alone does not complete it.
You are ready for your first activity
Ask students to open the class, select the course, and start the lesson. They can follow the lesson and submission guide if they need help.
After students submit their work, you can review their submissions and give feedback and scores.
